Järnevid open-air bath

Situated between Örberga and Nässja, west of Vadstena. The road access consists of narrow paths.

Tycklinge bath

Located on one of the most popular promenade routes outside the city centre (Tycklingerunde). The Tycklingebath is located outside on the peninsula. The swimming area also has a signposted section for dogs.

Visit the bath on foot or by bicycle. The area is car-free. Only residents and vehicles with a permit may use the community road.

Vättervik's bath

Situated directly north of Vadstena, along the former Route 50, today a country road. The bay is shallow and has a sandy bottom. The beach is child-friendly.

Facilities:
First Camp Vadstena is also situated by the lake, which means you have access to everything a four-star campsite has to offer.

Beach train:
The train runs daily from 1 July.
Departs from Arkivgatan, Vallgraven, to the campsite at 10:00.
Departs from the campsite at 16:15.
Ticket: 30 SEK return. Children under 4 go free.




Dog beaches

There are dog beaches in specially signposted areas at Bårstad, Tycklinge and Vätterviksbad.

Please note that dogs are not allowed in the official bathing areas from 1 June to 15 September. However, they can swim in the areas marked for dogs all year round. This also applies to natural bathing areas.

Natural bathing spots

There are natural bathing areas in several places in the municipality. Unlike the official bathing areas, there is no access to toilets, and the municipality does not test the water quality. Please note that the beach promenade in the municipal area is considered a natural bathing area.

A popular natural bathing area with a sandy beach is located at Hovanäset.

Medhamra

No official bathing beach. Nudist beach. Walk or cycle through the forest from Vadstena campsite. Near the campsite, it is common to wear swimwear, and further away there is an unofficial nudist beach.

There are natural bathing places in several places in the municipality. Unlike the official bathing sites, there is no access to toilets and the municipality does not carry out water quality checks. Please note that the promenade in the city area is considered a natural swimming area.

There is a bathing beach in the town of Vadstena that is partially accessible. You will find it at the end of Lastköpingsgatan near the adult education centre. There is a ramp that allows you to carefully enter the water if you have difficulty walking or need a wheelchair. Please note that this is a natural bathing area with some pebbles on the bottom. We recommend wearing bathing shoes to make your bathing experience even more enjoyable. The bathing area is suitable for everyone and offers beautiful lawns for picnics and playing.

Harbour in Borghamn

The Bondbryggan (Farmers' Bridge) and the eastern pier belong to Borghamn Strand and are open to the public.

Facilities:
Public parking: Tourist parking at the intersection of Borghamnsvägen and Norra Sjövägen. Borghamn Strand has a public toilet.

Omberg

Between Borgs udde in Borghamn and Sverkerskapellet in Alvastra, there are several pebble beaches, such as Borgs udde, Anudden, and Älvarums udde, where you can cool off. Borgs udde borders Borghamn Strand. The other bays can only be reached via paths or trails from Sjövägen or from the lake. In Stocklycke, there is a bathing spot in the harbour (stairs down to the water).
